April Fool's Day

My best friend in 7th grade sent me and our other best friend a letter that we got in April 1st. I don't remember exactly what the letter said, but the main point was that she was moving. She said she didn't know how to tell us in person and was going to really miss us. The two of us who got the letters immediately called each other crying. Was it true? Was this an April Fool's joke? She wouldn't play such a mean trick, would she? We didn't want to call her because we weren't sure whether or not it was true. (I know, not a good reason. Remember, I was in 7th grade.) So, my mom drove us past her house. There were no for sale signs. My friend's mom ended up calling the friend who wrote the letter's mom. She got the scoop, and the friend who cried with me called me to tell me it wasn't true. She mailed the letter as an April Fool's joke and sent it even though her mom told her it wasn't a good idea.

Ever since then, I dread April Fool's day.  I don't like mean tricks or really any tricks at all. Unless you are throwing me a surprise party or doing something happy, I don't want to be tricked. That is, until today. My 4k-ers had the best April Fool's jokes ever.

The day started by one of my kids (Niya) walking in and showing me her arm. It was clearly covered in red and blue marker. I asked her what happened and she said, " IAlmostGotHitByACarAprilFools!" It was adorable.

Right after Niya's prank, another girl (Kassie) started acting sad. Niya was trying to figure out what was wrong and after some consoling and talking, Kassie said she didn't know what April Fool's day was. Niya said, "Ms. McElwee- Kassie is sad because she doesn't know what April Fool's day is!" Kassie immediately stopped acting sad and shouted, "April Fool's!!!" Hilarious.

When our room grandparent got to school, a little girl said "Grandma Gerri- you have marker on your jeans." Grandma Gerri checked out her jeans and asked the kid where the marker was. The kid started laughing and said, "April Fool's!"

All day long, kids said thing to me like: You have a snake on your back! You have a spider on your face! There's a lion behind you!
They thought they were sooooo funny!

At the end of the day, we sang some songs and read a story as usual. Someone asked if it was time to get folders and go home. I said today was going to be different. I told everyone to lay down and turned off the lights. They were pretty confused. I told them that today they had to stay at school and they asked why. To take naps, of course! They didn't get to go home because they had to stay at school all day long and take a really long nap. I got a bunch of "why?"s, but they all laid down on the floor. As soon as everyone was laying down, I said, "April Fool's!" They thought it was so funny that I 'got them back'.

Did  you prank or get pranked by anyone?

And incase you need an extra laugh:

Incase you can't read the text on the page, it says, "Ms. L has the longest laugh. This is how she looks when she's laughing." Just look at that face. It crack's me up! The kid did not want to draw a happy face.
