The best moments of my day:
I have a few kids who speak Spanish and are working on learning English. My Spanish skills start right around 'hola' and end right around the number 10. One of my girls speaks both Spanish and English fluently (I'm a little jealous). Sometimes I ask her how to say simple phrases like "Walking feet" or "Use a quiet voice" so I can say them in Spanish. Today, one of my little ones was so silly during read-to-self time, so I said he would need to read for 4 minutes during choice time. He speaks Spanish and wasn't totally understanding what I wanted him to do. I asked the girl how to say "You need to read quietly for 4 minutes" in Spanish, she told me, and I repeated it. The little guy thought it was HILARIOUS. He made me say it a bunch of times and laughed so hard, which made me laugh too! For a second, I thought the girl might have told me to say something silly to him, but she's pretty trustworthy. Also, I google translated the phrase just to make sure :)
I had to have a serious conversation with a little guy about why he doesn't need to stand on the urinal to use it.
We are learning about recycling and I asked them if they have ever recycled anything before. One little girl raised her hand and said, "I don't think so. But my mom did make me clean my room once."
I had two different people ask me how my classroom stays so uncluttered and organized. My 4kers know they have to clean up after themselves. I like being uncluttered and organized. We do better work that way. Thanks for noticing, random staff members :)
